New Ways to Turn Your Community’s Participation into Earnings

Now we’re giving viewers even more ways to be part of the action: status that shows they’ve been there, new ways to shape what happens on stream, and doubling down on Hype Trains. Here are new ways for all eligible monetizing streamers to earn more from the collective energy of your community.

Mark your Biggest Moments with Creator Badge Drops

With Creator Badge Drops, you can design your own custom badges for your big events and choose how viewers unlock them based on subs or minutes watched. Now you can reward viewers who show up for your biggest moments, whether that’s an all-night subathon or a milestone months in the making. During testing, participants who set up custom badges for their events saw up to 50% more gift sub revenue on their first day of the event compared to their monthly average.

Let Your Community Shape the Stream with Custom Power-ups

Power-ups let Chat use Bits to trigger fun effects and interact with your stream. Now, along with the default Power-ups, you can create Custom Power-ups with your own rewards—like letting Chat pick your next move in your game, or blast out goofy overlays on your stream, or make you talk in a funny voice. You define the Custom Power-up and set the Bits amount, and viewers can activate them during your stream. It’s both a way to support you and to influence what happens live.

More Ways to Participate with More Types of Hype Trains

Hype Trains are one of the most exciting ways Chat joins forces to spread massive amounts of hype. Earlier this year we tested Community Trains, where even viewers who didn’t participate were rewarded with emotes. We found that these rare types of Hype Trains can earn 2X more than typical Hype Trains. Over the next few months, we’ll be testing new ways to improve Hype Trains including fine tuning how they get triggered and creating new types of rewards viewers can earn. These special types of Hype Trains will only randomly kick off on a small percentage of all Hype Trains, so be on the lookout for when they happen.
