Extra Life Game Day 2015!

Last year, Extra Life raised more than a record-breaking $4 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, much of that made via broadcasts and donations from our amazing Twitch community. Starting this Saturday, November 7, Extra Life kicks off its annual Game Day once again, with hopes to bump that record up to $6 million!

We anticipate many broadcasters participating, and thousands of viewers tuning in, so we’ve gathered some helpful tips and tools for you:

  • Game Category: You can now set your game, or browse broadcasters participating in Game Day, by using the “Extra Life” game category.

  • Notifications: You asked and Extra Life listened! They’ve worked hard to integrate their system so that broadcasters now have in-stream notifications for donations simply by connecting your own Extra Life page with TNotifier or StreamPro. More information is available — along with Extra Life overlays, donation buttons, talking points, ads you can run during your stream, and much more — in the handy dandy Broadcaster Toolkit they put together just for you.

  • In the past, many broadcasters have opted to use personal PayPal to maintain their existing in-stream alert systems for fundraising. This year, we recommend broadcasters participating in Extra Life to utilize the TNotifier or StreamPro alerts connected directly to their Extra Life page and to request donations be made to the same page. We also encourage viewers to donate to broadcasters who link directly to Extra Life to ensure that all monies goes straight to this great cause.

  • Humble Bundle: Looking for new games to play during your Extra Life stream or want to get a bit more bang for your donation? This week’s Humble Bundle goes directly to Extra Life and contains more than $119 worth of awesome gaming content. Don’t forget to use the HumbleLife emote in chat this weekend!

  • Teespring: Some broadcasters may elect to run Teespring campaigns to benefit Extra Life this weekend or in the future. Teespring has partnered directly with Extra Life to ensure all revenue goes direct to charity. Users will know a shirt is verified as a charitable purchase when this logo is present on the Teespring campaign page, along with a description under the campaign name:

  • Team Twitch: Twitch has our very on Extra Life team, so if you’re looking for a group to raise money alongside of, we welcome you to join us! If you’re already on a team, fear not: We’ll be tracking all the progress on our site this weekend so we can see all of the amazing work the Twitch community is doing as a whole.

  • #ForTheKids: Want to tag your involvement on social media? Make sure you incorporate Extra Life’s hash tag #ForTheKids (or #FTK), and/or tag us on twitter (@Twitch), and Extra Life (@ExtraLife4Kids).

You can be sure we’ll be tuning in to see all the epic moments, crazy shenanigans and amazing game play this weekend in the Extra Life category! Are you streaming this weekend for Extra Life? We’d love to see your progress, so be sure to tag Twitch on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
