Community Spotlight Volume 1: Speedrunning and The Mexican Runner
Welcome to the very first edition of the Community Spotlight! This will be a regular feature of the Twitch blog wherein we highlight a specific gaming community, events within that community, and one or more broadcasters you should go check out. Enjoy!

Among the many fantastic events on Twitch every year, Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) is one of my absolute favorites. For one week each year (well, two if you count Summer Games Done Quick), a huge number of incredibly talented speedrunners collaboratively broadcast “non-stop” for charity. However, with a few exceptions, many of these broadcasters end the event with very little personal following. This is where the Community Spotlight comes in! I’ve worked with some friends from the Speedrunning community to choose 15 speedrunners. Each runner will get their own day where they’ll get a few hours of front page promotion to show their talent and personality to a much wider audience than many of them are used to. We’re going to try to get each runner to start broadcasting at around the same time from day to day, so if you’re interested, you can just take a look at the Twitch front page and see that day’s runner. And our first runner will be…The Mexican Runner! He’s planning to play a variety of NES and SNES games, including Battletoads, of which he holds the World Record. He and the Speedrunning Community Spotlight will make their front page debut tomorrow (May 16) evening, from 5–7 PM Pacific Time. For the full schedule, see below:

One of your favorite runners missing? Don’t worry, we’ll be doing plenty more of these if things go well! Each time we revisit a community for another spotlight, the list will be all (or at least, almost all) new streamers.
